Ithra Dubai, the real estate developer wholly owned by the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD), has confirmed to Construction Week that it will “fully clad” both the towers at One Za’abeel and 'The Link' — the 230m-long cantilever floating 100m above the ground — by November 2021.
The developer said that it had concluded 2020 “on a positive note despite global challenges”, achieving several milestones at One Za’abeel, including the completion of 'The Link' following the lift of the cantilevered structure in October 2020.
According to the developer, “the completion of 'The Link' was an engineering feat that required a concerted effort by a team of global experts in the fields of construction, engineering, and contracting in the region.”
Following the milestone, 'The Link' has qualified One Za’abeel to attempt to break the Guinness World Records™ title for the “Longest Cantilevered Building” in the world.
Ithra Dubai stressed that construction works at One Za'abeel “powered through the pandemic”, despite disruptions that hit supply chains globally during the lockdown imposed to combat the spread of COVID-19. The developer stayed “on-track and met construction targets” through the period.
